A weekend getaway after a busy week!
During the last week, we’ve replaced all 3 major appliances in our house. As a result most of the last week has been wrapped up with pickup, delivery, installation and migration to new appliances. By this past Saturday, we also managed to sell all of our old appliances. To recover from this crazy week, we decided to head to the beach for some much needed relaxation. I was able to take Monday off, so on Sunday afternoon we went down to Longboat Key and stayed at the Hilton Longboat Key Beachfront Resort. We only stayed one night, but it was great to get away and have some time together. The weather wasn’t entirely cooperative, but didn’t interfere with our plans too much.
Sunday evening we got some Papa Johns pizza for dinner (much to Liz’s delight), and then headed down to the resort pool. The kids got to swim for a while before heading down to the beach (which was a very short walk from the pool) to watch the sunset. Once the sun went down, we headed back to our room and snacked and played games before going to bed. Monday, we got up around 7:30 and started getting ready for the kids to hit the pool one more time before we left. The hotel had an early checkout of 11am, so we asked to extend that to noon.
We left our hotel around noon and headed to Friendly’s in Sarasota. We don’t have one of these (seems weird saying that since we have just about everything else and more in Tampa) near us in Tampa. We had a great lunch followed by some really good cold treats that were amazing as usual (even though they were out of all the popular flavors). After lunch we headed back home for Michael to get a nap and some additional downtime at home before the start of our week.
